Chrome Plating since 1961
Tru Coat Plating was founded in 1961 by Carmine Neal Mazzone, Frank Mazzone, and Carmine's wife, Elaine. The first shop was at 3811 Lake St, Stone Park, IL. In 1966, it was moved to its current location at 130 Mannheim Rd, Bellwood, IL. Tru Coat Plating has been a family-run, family-owned business since its inception. Carmine's sons Neal and Rick started working at Tru Coat Plating in the late 1960s to help with the growing business industry. After Frank's passing in 1974 and Carmine's in 1980, Neal and Rick took over the plating business and never looked back. Under their leadership, Tru Coat Plating expanded to 7 chrome tanks and a workforce of around 20 employees. Production of chrome plating of large and small runs started becoming more of an everyday production. Output pins, Planting Fingers, and Drive Pins have been chrome in runs of 100s and 1000s daily for the last 20+ years. Rick passed in 2012, and Neal started thinking about selling the business shortly after. After a health scare in 2016 and much discussion with his wife Linda and sister Susan, who both were significantly involved in Tru Coat's day-to-day activities, in 2018, Neal began actively to sell Tru Coat Plating. A couple of deals never came to fruition, and in 2022, Tru Coat Plating was purchased by two cousins, Manny and Raul Calvillo. Already the owners of Mexicali Hard Chrome, founded in 1989, they had over 20+ years of experience in hard chrome plating. The transition was seamless, and the Mazzone family was at ease knowing that the values that helped them grow Tru Coat Plating will continue through the new owners. Tru Coat Plating has been dedicated to serving its customers with quality and reliable service since 1961. We currently have 14,000 square feet, seven chrome plating tanks, polishers, and centerless grinders, and we are open 24 hours a day to provide the best and most complete plating service in the Chicago area. Mexicali Hard Chrome can handle parts up to 10 tons in weight, and Tru Coat Plating can chrome plate thousands of parts in one run. Manny and Raul look forward to continuing the reputation their fathers and the Mazzone family worked so hard to be known for.
